*** 2021-2022 Season February Update ***

To all our basketball families,

Our parish has not informed me yet basketball will be able to take place this season, and given the lateness,
we need to look forward to next season, in hopes we will be accommodated in a Covid free environment.

Please support CYO when it does return... it is a great place to learn the game in grades 1-3, and play competitively
in grades 4- 8. Registration typically begins in late August, so please check the website: StColumbabasketball.net.

To all our former players graduating out of the program: you have been missed very much, and we are
sad we did not get to watch you play these past 2 seasons. We celebrate your contribution to our
travel division, and wish you the best of luck in high school.

To our younger players: we truly look forward to seeing you next season. Keep practicing!

To our parents past and present: thanks for being there for your child and honoring good sportsmanship
as spectators.

To my coaches and friends who have supported efforts to enhance this wonderful program:
THANK YOU! Love and appreciate you all. Hope to see you soon...please keep in touch.

Stay safe, and pray this pandemic is finally coming to an end.

Peace out,
Tracey Bause
Director

*** 2021-2022 Season January Update ***

To our basketball families,
We have not sent an update because there was nothing to report until now.

Apparently the Archdiocese has moved back the opening of programs to early next month. This very much limits what we can offer moving forward.

If there is an opportunity to host any clinics or open gyms, we will notify you. The school still uses the gym as a cafeteria.

This has been very frustrating for all of us.
Please stay safe.

*** 2021-2022 Season November Update ***

To all St Columba Basketball Coaches and Families

It is with great regret we need to report that a decision was reached at the county level concerning Travel basketball. All directors met this week to discuss the Travel Division, and reached the conclusion we did not want to proceed without the usual quality of play in place. So we look forward to returning to Travel next year.

We hope to be informed in January that we can access St Columba gym in order to run an in-house instructional program for grades 1-3, and open gym scrimmages with referees for grades 4-8. We promise this will be an enjoyable and learning experience in lieu of our usual program, with very reasonable fees.

Please stay tuned as we are committed to seeing you all back in our gym again!

Thanks to my advisory team and fantastic staff of coaches who have stayed with us throughout this pandemic. Be well and safe.

Fondly

Tracey Bause

Director

*** 2021-2022 Season October Update ***

To all our Basketball Families

We have been waiting to hear about the status of this basketball season determined by the Archdiocese. They have now decided the season will be delayed until  mid-January, with the possibility of an earlier opening should the pandemic cooperate.

Many are very disappointed, but clearly this is a decision made with safety in mind. The issue is also complicated by the requirement of a six-foot distance when children eat lunch. St. Denis – St. Columba gym, as with many other gyms, must be used for lunch each day. When lunch can return to the cafeteria, we will be one step closer to basketball.

The good news is our parish and school support this youth program, and once we have the green light, we will consider options for using our gym to offer play for those interested.

You will be contacted once we know when and how we can proceed. The format of all divisions ( Grade 1 Beginning Basketball, Grades 2 and 3 Instructional, and Grades 4-8 Travel) will be determined by our registration numbers moving forward. We hope to be creative, provide basketball play as needed, and continue to offer an excellent learning experience for your child.

If you have already registered, we will keep you on the list. If you have not yet registered , please get the proper form below and do so.

Please stay safe, and we pray we will see you soon!

Let our players know we miss them!

Director

Prior announcement:

Unfortunately, with new COVID-19 variants on the rise, the NY Archdiocese has initiated a “Phase 1” start to the opening of schools. This means outside school activities are not yet permitted. Once “Phase 2” is approved, we should be able to resume our regular program. Clearly our CYO league in the county will start later.  Everything is subject to change right now.

As we wait, we will begin registration in order to plan and hit the ground running once Phase 2 begins. No fees will be collected at this time….. we will do so at your child’s first day in the gym.

Fees last season we played (2019-2020) were: In-House: $105 Travel-A: $150 Travel-B: $125.

There may be a slight increase should we need to pay more for weekend gym time.

Your support and understanding is appreciated.

Please consider helping one of our former players who currently is one of our instructional referees.

Devon Williams is a wonderful member of our team and we ask for your support of him and his family in this stressful time. His father, Devon Sr., volunteered for many years in our program, and we are sending prayers their way.

Thank you to all of you who have already responded!
Thank you for your kindness. and blessings to you and yours.

I thought you might be interested in supporting this GoFundMe,https://gofund.me/e78c0e7a.

Even a small donation could help reach their fundraising goal. And if you can't make a donation, it would be great if you could share the fundraiser to help spread the word.

Thanks for taking a look!
